HOTO tubular heater available in several diameters, lengths and sheath materials, these heaters can be formed into virtually any shape and can be brazed or welded to any metal surface.

Tubular heaters are the primary heating source in most applications that require electric heat. They are highly adaptable to the requirements of many applications. Tubular heaters can be used in a straight line form and can also be bent into various shapes. They can be used in free air, clamped to surfaces, embedded or cast into metal. Tubular heaters provide heat up to 1500°F.


HOTO tubular heaters use 80% nickel 20% chromium advanced coiled resistance wire as the heating core. Both ends of the core are welded to a pin that provides a cold section whose length varies with the requirements of the application. The coil pin assembly is precisely located in a thick, oversized metal tube and embedded in a high-grade MgO dielectric of 96% purity. The assembly is then compacted through a rolling reducing process, reducing the outer tube diameter to its final size and transforming the MgO matrix into a hard solid that acts as an excellent heat transfer medium, as well as an electrical insulator with high dielectric strength. Finally, the heater is annealed in a high temperature furnace to remove the internal stress that accumulates during the reduction of the cold-formed roll and soften it. The heating elements are then made into special shapes or supplied in straight lines. Appropriate electrical terminals are added to the final product.

Construction

· Sheath can be manufactured in copper, stainless steel, Incoloy®, or titanium.

· The sheath surrounds a helical coil of nickel- chrome resistance wire, centered and tightly compacted by an electrical insulator and heat transfer medium of magnesium oxide.

· WNH Heating typically use Incoloy® for 6.7 mm diameter, titanium for 8 mm diameter, and Incoloy® 800 or Incoloy® 840 for 11 mm diameter.

Applications

Typically used for:

· Heating platens for applications such as printing.

· Constant heat for radiant and process heating.

· High temperature heating for ovens and seal bars.

· Immersion heating for liquids, gases, and chemicals.

· Preventing ice formation in cooling and freezer units.
